At this point, you're familiar with finding your way around the sewing machine. Maybe you've even started working on some sketches that you want to bring to life. Now is your moment to jump right on in! We're going to focus on the meat and potatoes of designing: pattern making & draping. Within this module, you will have the opportunity to start officially creating. We've incorporated downloadable instructional guides as well as demonstrative videos. By the end of the course, you'll have developed a professional fashion portfolio showcasing your original designs, ready to impress potential employers or start your own fashion brand (if you haven't already).

Kechena Richardson is a highly creative and talented fashion designer known for her innovative and unique designs. Since the 8th grade, Kechena had a passion for fashion and design. Which led her to pursue formal education at Missouri State University, followed by a semester of studying abroad in London England for womenswear in Fashion Design. Upon graduating, she embarked on a journey to establish her own fashion label, Kechena Designs, where she could showcase her distinct vision. Throughout her career, Kechena has gained recognition for her ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern trends, creating timeless pieces that appeal to a wide range of audiences. She has also collaborated with prominent figures in the industry, further cementing her position as a trailblazer. Whether it's haute couture, ready-to-wear, or avant-garde designs, Kechena continues to push boundaries and challenge the conventional norms. Leaving a lasting impact on the fashion landscape. She draws inspiration from her surroundings, such as culture, art, nature, etc. infusing her collections with a distinct personality that resonates with fashion enthusiasts worldwide. With all of her past experiences, Kechena remains committed to elevating the fashion industry and inspiring the next generation of designers. Her journey is a testament to her unwavering dedication and love for the art of fashion.     As a designer you will come across various textiles. Within this module we will cover these different fabrications so that you are fully equipped for your design projects.

  • Flat Pattern | Draping

    Pattern making is a blueprint for designing clothes. A technical drawing or drafting of a garment. We will unpack this technique along with draping so that you fully understand which method is needed for your designs.

  • Creating a Collection

    What does it take to design a collection? How can you bring your ideas to life if you do not know how to draw? These are just a few bonus areas that we cover. From moodboards, croquis, to fashion show guides. We thought of everything that would aid you in creating a successful fashion collection.
