Module I

How do you get started as a fashion designer? Is designing as hard as everyone says? Do you need to go to school to get into designing? Which sewing machine is best suitable for you? How much fabric is needed per project? 

These are some frequently asked questions that I get asked from up and coming designers. This Entry Level Designers course was created to assist with all of those concerns. Throughout the program, you'll be introduced to the basic principles of fashion design, including understanding fabrics, colour theory, etc. 

If you're wondering where to start within your journey of designing, this would be the perfect place to begin! By the end of the course, you'll have a solid foundation in fashion design, ready to pursue further studies or explore entry-level positions in the fashion industry. Kechena Richardson is a highly creative and talented fashion designer known for her innovative and unique designs. With a keen eye for style and an innate sense of aesthetics, she has been making waves in the fashion industry for over a decade now. Since the 8th grade, Kechena had a passion for fashion and design. Which led her to pursue formal education at Missouri State University, followed by a semester of studying abroad in London England for womenswear in Fashion Design. Upon graduating, she embarked on a journey to establish her own fashion label, Kechena Designs, where she could showcase her distinct vision. Throughout her career, Kechena has gained recognition for her ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern trends, creating timeless pieces that appeal to a wide range of audiences. She has also collaborated with prominent figures in the industry, further cementing her position as a trailblazer. Whether it's haute couture, ready-to-wear, or avant-garde designs, Kechena continues to push boundaries and challenge the conventional norms. Leaving a lasting impact on the fashion landscape. She draws inspiration from her surroundings, such as culture, art, nature, etc. infusing her collections with a distinct personality that resonates with fashion enthusiasts worldwide. With all of her past experiences, Kechena remains committed to elevating the fashion industry and inspiring the next generation of designers. Her journey is a testament to her unwavering dedication and love for the art of fashion. Where Should You Begin?

This course is centered on the foundational basics of designing. We will begin with understanding certain fashion related terms that you will come across frequently. Followed by a brief outlook on the human body; understanding body shapes and the proper wardrobe that would fit best. It will end with various machine and hand sewing techniques that will prepare you for your next phase. Similar to all of the other courses, you will be tested on each content upon completion of said course.
